After 20 very successful years in the high-tech industry working for IBM, DEC and Cellular One, Ted’s career evaporated into thin air after the dot com crash. Ted was one of thousands of high tech professionals whose jobs were eliminated or outsourced to offshore workers.

Luckily, Ted was working on his coaching certification (CPCC) with the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) and was preparing for a career change so the universe just accelerated his plan to become a full-time coach.

One of the reasons Ted wanted to run his own business was to have freedom and to spend more time with his family. Working in the high-tech industry was his dream career but the long hours and long commute became too stressful on Ted and his family.

Leaving for work at 5 AM and returning home after 9 PM meant not seeing his small children for days at a time. He became the absentee father and husband and his health began to suffer.

Working from home gave Ted the freedom to spend more time with his family. He drove on field trips at his children’s school and coached their sports teams. Ted had created another dream career for himself.

Ted never completely left the high-tech world. While learning how to market his coaching practice, he fell in love with internet marketing and social media.
