Michael Cheuk (pronounced “Chuck”)
I help entrepreneurs become successful by coaching them to leverage their best selves in order to meet a deep need in others. My clients make a good living serving the world without selling out their souls.
I have been a pastor for most of my life. For the past ten years, I have coached congregants and community members. Since receiving my Ph.D. in ethics from the University of Virginia in 2004, I have studied and practiced Bowen family system theory and Marshall Rosenberg’s Non-Violent Communication. More recently, I’ve been interested in how these practices affect behavior and functioning in healthy organizations and businesses. In 2016, I became an entrepreneur myself by launching my own coaching and consulting business at michaelkcheuk.com.
I was born in Hong Kong. My parents experienced the tumultuous Cultural Revolution in China and wanted a better life for my sister and me. So we moved to the United States when I was seven years old. As a first-generation immigrant, we didn’t have much in terms of material possessions, but my parents were rich in love, and they instilled in me a desire to learn, grow, and make a positive difference in others. I carry those lessons with me to this day. My success comes in helping others succeed.
I’m a certified Christian Leadership Coach from Coach Approach Ministries. I’m also a member of the ICF, and have applied for the ACC accreditation.
