Perry serves on the PR Committee and Speakers Bureau for San Francisco’s Super Bowl 50 Committee. He is on the Executive Committee / Board of Directors for ChinaSF whose goal is to attract and retain Chinese investment and business expansion into San Francisco and the Bay Area, and to also support San Francisco Bay Area businesses in their business efforts in China. With offices in Beijing, Shanghai & San Francisco, ChinaSF is a public-private initiative of the San Francisco Center for Economic Development (SFCED), in close partnership with the City of San Francisco’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD), supported by funding from private sector partners.

Recent major projects for which Perry oversaw communications include: San Francisco’s Official 30th Anniversary SF / Shanghai Sister City Delegation to the Shanghai Expo led by San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and former Mayors Frank Jordan and Willie L. Brown, Jr. (June 2010); ChinaSF Delegation to Beijing, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Shanghai (Oct. 2010); San Francisco Fleet Week 2010; (October 2010); “Escape to the City Campaign” for the San Francisco Travel Association (spring 2009); Loma Prieta Earthquake 20th Anniversary emergency preparedness campaign (October 2009); public relations / media for the Beijing Olympic Torch Relay in San Francisco(April 2008). In 2006, Perry accepted the coveted “Exceptional Business Award” from the San Francisco Business Arts Councils.

Perry handled public outreach on behalf of the San Francisco Mayor’s Office to promote the 34th America’s Cup and has handled public and media relations for the Bay Area Science Festival / UCSF and San Francisco’s internationally acclaimed Asian Art Museum.

In addtion to his communcations work, Perry is the host/producer for the weekly LGBT Show, Ten Percent, which airs throughout California. As a journalist, Perry has written over one hundred articles, and contributed to dozens of national publications . He has represented clients in the United States, Canada, China and Europe. Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Perry began his career with the National Endowment for the Arts, followed by stints as Communications Director for San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Media Manager for the San Francisco Partnership, a public/private venture of the San Francisco Mayor’s Office and San Francisco Chamber of Commerce and edited the national nonprofit magazine Opportunity Knocks.

In 1997, he took a sabbatical and worked his way around the world as a writer aboard the cruiseliner Crystal Symphony, visting more than 54 countries on six continents. In 1999, he opened David Perry & Associates. In his spare time, he travels and lectures frequently on public relations and maritime history. In 2008, Perry developed the New Media Made Easy training series – offered as seminars and webinars – to assist clients in use of social media for business development.
